Guwahati (Assam): A 13-year-old girl was rescued from horrific abuse after being found locked inside a storage box beneath a bed during a raid by the District Labour Task Force in Guwahati’s Panjabari area on Sunday. The raid was conducted in the presence of a magistrate at House No. 69, Juripar, owned by Amrin Akhtar Laskar, following complaints from local residents. Officials said the minor had been held as a domestic worker for nearly six years and was allegedly subjected to regular physical abuse. Sensing the raid, the accused allegedly hid the girl inside the bed’s storage compartment, placed a mattress over it and asked a family member to lie on top. After an intensive search lasting about 25 minutes, officials located and rescued the child.
