“I Am Thakur, Don’t Mess With Me”: HDFC Bank Staffer’s Caste Remark Sparks Outrage in Kanpur

A controversy has erupted at an HDFC Bank branch in Panki, Kanpur, after a video showing a female employee arguing aggressively with a customer went viral on social media.

The employee, identified as Aastha Singh, is seen using abusive language during a heated exchange that reportedly began after a customer raised a complaint. In the video, she is heard saying, “I am a Thakur, don’t do bakch@di with me,” a remark that has triggered widespread backlash online.

Other bank staff can be seen trying to calm the situation, but the argument continues. The caste-related comment has drawn sharp criticism, with many users calling it unprofessional and demanding strict action from HDFC Bank.

Some social media users, however, have claimed that the customer behaved rudely first, leading to the confrontation. As of now, HDFC Bank has not issued an official statement on the incident.
