“Name Deleted, Voice Ignored?” Video of Daily Wage Labourer With Elderly Mother Sparks Row Over SIR in Indore
A video showing a distressed daily wage labourer alleging that his name was deleted from the voter list has reignited debate over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. The clip, said to be from Indore in Madhya Pradesh, surfaced on social media on Thursday and has since gone viral.
In the video, the man is seen holding the hand of his elderly mother and complaining that his name was removed from the SIR list despite having complete documents. He alleged repeated inaction by officials.
According to information, a public hearing was held at the Indore Collector’s office on Tuesday under the supervision of the Additional District Collector. During the hearing, the man arrived with his mother to raise the issue but was reportedly unable to meet officials as he had not obtained the required meeting slip. This led to an argument, following which he began shouting in frustration.
During the altercation, the man claimed that the Booth Level Officer (BLO) was not responding to his complaints regarding the deletion of his name. He said his father had passed away, his mother had poor eyesight, and he worked as a daily wage labourer, making repeated visits to government offices difficult.
He further claimed that despite carrying all necessary documents, his grievance was not heard by the authorities.
As the situation escalated, people present recorded videos, which were later shared on social media. The footage has drawn sharp reactions online, with many questioning the transparency and implementation of the SIR exercise.
Officials are reportedly trying to trace the man. So far, no official statement has been issued by the district administration.
