Rajasthan ‘Hit-and-Run’ Case Turns Out to Be Planned Murder by Newlywed Wife and Lover

Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan):

What initially appeared to be a hit-and-run accident in Sri Ganganagar district has been exposed as a premeditated murder, allegedly planned by a newlywed woman with her lover and executed with the help of two accomplices.

The incident occurred on the night of January 30 in the Rawla police station area. Ashish, married just three months ago, was found dead on a deserted road, while his wife Anjali (also referred to as Anju) was discovered unconscious beside him. The case was initially registered as a road accident caused by an unknown vehicle.

Suspicion Raised During Investigation:

Police received information around 9 pm that a couple was lying injured on the road. Both were taken to the Community Health Centre, where doctors declared Ashish brought dead. Anjali claimed that an unknown vehicle had hit them while they were out for a walk and alleged that her jewellery and Ashish’s mobile phone had been stolen.

However, inconsistencies in her statement, combined with post-mortem findings, raised suspicion. The medical examination revealed strangulation marks on Ashish’s neck, injuries inconsistent with a road accident. Notably, Anjali had no visible injuries.

Call Records Expose the Conspiracy:

A technical investigation, including call detail records (CDRs) and location data, revealed that Anjali was in constant contact with a man named Sanjay alias Sanju, a relative and former boyfriend. Police found that the two had been in a relationship for 6–7 years, even after Anjali’s marriage.

Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan stated that Anjali was unhappy with her marriage and wanted to live with Sanjay. Sixteen days before the murder, Anjali went to her parents’ home, where the plan to kill Ashish was allegedly finalised.

How the Murder Was Executed:

According to police, on the night of January 30, Anjali took Ashish out on the pretext of a walk and led him to a secluded road. Sanjay and two associates—Rohit alias Rocky and Badal alias Siddharth—were already waiting there.

Ashish was first attacked with sticks. When he was found to be still alive, the accused allegedly strangled him with a muffler, killing him on the spot.

To mislead investigators, the accused attempted to stage the crime as a road accident and robbery. Police said Anjali herself handed over her earrings and Ashish’s mobile phone to the accused to strengthen the robbery narrative and pretended to be unconscious after the murder.

Arrests and Ongoing Probe:

Following forensic examination, CCTV analysis, call records, and interrogation, police arrested Anjali, Sanjay, Rohit, and Badal. Items used in the crime are being recovered, and the accused will be produced before the court for custodial remand.

Police are continuing the investigation to determine:

● Whether the murder was planned before the wedding

● The exact roles of each accused

● If any additional persons were involved in the conspiracy

The case bears resemblance to other recent incidents where murders were staged as accidents, highlighting a disturbing pattern of planned domestic crimes disguised as mishaps..
