Toddler’s Death Sparks Violence: Mob Pelts Stones at Hathras Police Station, SHO Injured
Tension gripped Mursan town in Hathras district on Sunday evening after an angry mob pelted stones at the local police station following the death of a two-and-a-half-year-old child in a road accident. The SHO and a constable were injured, and property inside the police station was damaged.
The incident began around 3.30 pm when a speeding Ertiga car hit the child, identified as Yash, while he was playing outside his house in Madhaiya locality. He was rushed to hospital and later referred to Aligarh, but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
After the child’s death, family members and locals gathered at the Mursan police station, demanding that the accused be handed over to them. Protesters blocked the Mathura–Bareilly road outside the thana, bringing traffic to a halt.
Despite police arresting the driver and co-worker and seizing the vehicle, the situation worsened. A group of miscreants began pelting stones at the police station from nearby railway tracks, injuring police personnel and damaging vehicles and property.
Additional police forces were rushed to the spot, and the crowd was dispersed using force. Three persons have been arrested so far. SP Hathras Chiranjeev Nath Sinha said those involved in the violence are being identified and strict action will be taken. The situation is now under control.
