Uttara Kannada: Man Killed, Two Injured in Clash Over Alleged Illicit Relationship with ‘Guruji’
Siddapura (Uttara Kannada): A dispute allegedly triggered by a woman’s illicit relationship with a self-styled guru turned violent in Avarguppa village of Siddapura taluk, leaving one man dead and two others seriously injured, police said.
According to the police, Suchitra was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with Kamalakar Bhat, a native of Shivamogga, who is also referred to as a guruji and originally hails from Hemmanabail village in Siddapura. The matter came to light after Suchitra’s daughter informed her father, Mahesh Nayak, about the relationship.
Mahesh Nayak reportedly went to the police station to lodge a complaint. Following this, a violent attack allegedly took place involving Suchitra’s father Loknath Chaudappa Naik and others. During the assault, Mahesh Nayak, Vasant Nayak and Kumar sustained serious injuries.
Vasant Nayak died on the way to the hospital, while the other two injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
Police said seven people have been arrested in connection with the case, including Kamalakar Bhat, who was absconding after the incident. Of the arrested accused, three were caught in Shivamogga and four in Siddapura.
According to police records, Suchitra has been named as A1, Loknath Chaudappa Naik as A2, an unidentified person as A3, and Kamalakar Bhat as A4. A case has been registered at the Siddapura police station, and further investigation is underway.
