₹5.7 Lakh Ganja Seized in Hyderabad: Woman from Odisha Arrested by Police
Hyderabad Police arrested a 30-year-old woman from Odisha for allegedly possessing 11.4 kg of ganja worth ₹5.7 lakh in the city.
The accused, identified as Rinita Raita, was apprehended by the West Zone Task Force team of Hyderabad City Police along with SR Nagar police. She was found in possession of dry ganja, a banned narcotic substance.
During interrogation, Rinita revealed that she is a resident of Kesariguda village in Gajapati district, Odisha. Police said her husband works as a farmer earning daily wages, while she was employed as a construction labourer. Due to financial hardship, she allegedly contacted her cousin Maniel Dalabehera, who is involved in ganja trafficking to Hyderabad and Rangareddy areas. Acting on his advice, she reportedly travelled to Hyderabad to sell dry ganja.
Hyderabad Police have reiterated their appeal to youth and the public to stay away from drugs and avoid the lure of easy money. Officials urged citizens to report any drug-related activities to police by dialling 100.
Addl DCP Md Iqbal Siddique said public cooperation is essential to make Hyderabad a drug-free city.
