UP Shock: Man Marries Three Women in 6 Years, Takes Dowry, Throws Them Out—Now Planning 4th Wedding

A shocking case of fraud and dowry harassment has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district, where a man allegedly married three women over six years, took dowry from each, and later abandoned them.

The matter came to light on Friday when the three women jointly approached the Jhansi SSP office to file a complaint against their husband, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Jamura Mahi village in Lalitpur district.

According to police, Sunil married the women in 2019, 2021 and 2023, allegedly keeping each wife unaware of the others. The women accused him of demanding dowry, assaulting them and forcing them out of his house after a few months of marriage. One wife was allegedly thrown out while pregnant.

The complainants alleged that Sunil’s motive was to extort cash and jewellery as dowry. Each family reportedly spent around ₹8 lakh on the marriages. After fulfilling initial demands, the women said Sunil began asking for additional dowry and later sought divorce.

One of the wives had earlier filed a dowry harassment case against him at Jakhaura police station in Lalitpur. Police said Sunil was also planning a fourth marriage.

Babina SHO JP Pal confirmed that a fraud case is being registered based on the complaints and action will be taken against the accused. Further investigation is underway.
