BJP Leader Accused of Assaulting Woman in MP’s Sidhi, Viral Video Triggers Outrage


A shocking case of alleged brutality against a woman has surfaced from Sidhi district in Madhya Pradesh, after a video purportedly showing a BJP leader assaulting a female vegetable vendor in public went viral on social media. The incident reportedly occurred on February 7, 2026, in Bahri village under the Sihawal Assembly constituency, barely 100 metres from the Bahri police station.


In the viral footage, Santosh Pathak, identified as a BJP leader, is seen beating the woman with a stick, pulling her by the hair, throwing her to the ground, and repeatedly kicking and punching her. Several bystanders were present at the spot, but none intervened. The victim has been identified as Hema Singh, a resident of Bhanwar village.


According to the complaint, the assault stemmed from a long-standing dispute over a roadside vegetable stall (gumti) near the bus stand, on land claimed to be government property. The woman alleged that Pathak had earlier vandalised her stall, forced her to vacate the spot, and later removed her handcart to set up his own business. When she returned to sell vegetables, she was allegedly abused and assaulted.


Bahri police station has registered a case against Santosh Pathak under IPC Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (obscene acts), and 506 (criminal intimidation). However, no arrest has been made so far, prompting allegations of police inaction. Local residents claim the accused enjoys political patronage, being close to a sitting BJP MLA.


The incident has sparked a political storm. Congress leader Jitu Patwari shared the video on social media and questioned the law and order situation under the BJP government, demanding immediate arrest. Former minister Kamleshwar Patel also condemned the incident, alleging administrative failure and accusing the police of shielding the accused.


Despite the FIR, the accused has reportedly defended himself through Facebook Live, while the victim continues to approach senior officials seeking justice. Police officials say the investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the probe findings.

Greater Noida – In a shocking incident in Roza Jalalpur under Bisrakh police station, a 22-year-old man brutally killed his wife and six-year-old brother-in-law with a stone before hanging himself on Monday evening.
