Bilaspur: Woman Arrested for Allegedly Stabbing Boyfriend to Death Over Mobile Phone Dispute
Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh): A 22-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death during a heated argument over being blocked on his mobile phone, police said on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Kamta Prasad Suryavanshi (25), who was living in a rented house and working at a local hotel. According to police, Kamta met Roshni Suryavanshi (22) on Instagram about six months ago, after which the two entered into a relationship.
Investigators said tensions escalated over the past two to three days after Kamta allegedly stopped communicating with Roshni and blocked her number and messages. Suspecting that he was seeing another woman, Roshni reportedly went to his rented house carrying a knife.
Police said that when Kamta opened the door, Roshni demanded his mobile phone. After he refused, a heated argument broke out, during which she allegedly stabbed him in the chest.
Kamta’s roommate, alerted by the noise, rushed to the room and found him lying on the floor in a pool of blood. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Confirming the arrest, police officer Summat Sahu said a case of murder has been registered. “The woman came to the victim’s room with a knife and demanded his phone. During the altercation, she stabbed him in the chest, leading to his death,” he said.
Police sources said Kamta was the nephew of BJP leader and district panchayat president Rajesh Suryavanshi. The accused has claimed that she carried the knife only to threaten him, but police are investigating her intent, the nature of their relationship and the exact sequence of events.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
