Snake Skin Left on Bed, Girl Disappears: Love Affair Behind ‘Filmy Drama’ in Auraiya


A bizarre incident came to light in Auraiya district, Uttar Pradesh, where a 25-year-old woman staged a dramatic disappearance by leaving a five-foot snake’s skin on her bed, triggering panic and superstition in her village. The incident occurred in Singanpur village under the Phaphund police station area.


The woman, identified as Reena, daughter of Rakesh Valmiki, went missing around 3 am on Sunday. Before leaving home, she placed a snake’s skin along with a ring, necklace and bangle on her bed. When family members went to wake her on Monday morning, they found the snake skin and began claiming that Reena had “turned into a serpent”, drawing large crowds to the house.


Villagers alerted the police about her sudden disappearance. On reaching the spot and conducting an investigation, police revealed that the entire episode was a planned drama. According to police, Reena was having a love affair with a young man from the same village, while her family was arranging her marriage elsewhere. To escape the pressure, she allegedly staged the incident and fled.


Locals told police that Reena had been searching in nearby fields for the past two days, possibly looking for a snake skin. Villagers also claimed that her family was aware of the relationship and had even assaulted her earlier, but she refused to end the affair.


Reena had studied up to Class 8 and is the youngest among five daughters and two sons, with four sisters already married.


Phaphund SHO Ajay Kumar said, “This appears to be a completely fabricated incident. The girl’s mobile phone has been put on surveillance and search efforts are underway. She will be recovered soon.” Police said the family is currently not sharing detailed information.
