Kasaragod Shocker: Father Hacks Daughter to Death, Injured Relative Also Succumbs


Kasaragod (Kerala): An 18-year-old girl, Jumaila, was hacked to death by her father during a violent dispute in Kunchathur, Manjeswaram, while a relative who was injured in the same attack has also died.


Jumaila, a native of Thuminad, Kunchathur, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Her relative, Sheikh Abba of Manjeswaram, who was critically injured during the incident, died later at a private hospital in Mangaluru.


The incident occurred around 6 pm on Monday. Police said the accused, Umar Farooq, attacked family members during an argument linked to a property dispute amid ongoing divorce negotiations. He had allegedly demanded that the property be registered in his name.


According to relatives, Umar Farooq is a drug addict and had returned to the village about three months ago. Jumaila and her mother had reportedly been staying at a relative’s house due to repeated disputes over his substance abuse.


During the altercation, Umar allegedly attacked Sheikh Abba. Jumaila was injured while trying to stop the assault and later died from severe injuries.


The Manjeswaram police have taken Umar Farooq into custody. Police said they suspect he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the attack. An investigation is ongoing.
