UP Shocker: Wife Seeks Divorce Just a Month After Marriage, Cites Husband’s Complexion


Hathras (Uttar Pradesh): In a startling case from Hathras, a newlywed woman has sought divorce barely a month after her marriage, citing dissatisfaction with her husband’s appearance and marital relationship.


The couple—Abhishek Sharma (also referred to as Abhishek Saxena), a resident of Hathras, and Megha from Agra—had married with the consent of both families. However, within days of the wedding, differences reportedly surfaced, and the relationship began to deteriorate.


According to police sources, Megha told authorities that she was unhappy with her husband and did not wish to continue the marriage. She reportedly stated that she was dissatisfied with the physical relationship and had issues she did not want to discuss publicly. “I don’t want to live with him anymore and want to settle the matter at the police station,” she said.


Abhishek alleged that his wife objected to his dark complexion and had made up her mind to leave despite repeated efforts to reconcile. He said around ₹2.5–3 lakh was spent on the wedding and expressed deep distress over the sudden breakdown of the marriage.


Family members from both sides attempted mediation, and a local panchayat was also convened, but no compromise could be reached. Megha remained firm on her decision, and the couple separated within a month of marriage.


The case has sparked debate on social media, with users questioning whether marriages are increasingly being judged on physical appearance and expectations rather than compatibility and commitment.

Greater Noida – In a shocking incident in Roza Jalalpur under Bisrakh police station, a 22-year-old man brutally killed his wife and six-year-old brother-in-law with a stone before hanging himself on Monday evening. Police identified the accused as Pappu Lal, a resident of Gajraula, Pilibhit. He had been living at his in-laws’ house for the past ten days.
