According to the FIR filed on 7 November, the victim, Jagadish C, was contacted by unidentified individuals, including a woman named Meghana Reddy, who allegedly gained his trust by claiming she wanted to build an old-age home in his father’s name. He was then persuaded to invest in a website promising high returns from international stock markets. Between 5 and 6 November, Jagadish transferred ₹1,29,33,253 through multiple RTGS and NEFT transactions. After the payments, he received neither returns nor a refund, prompting him to approach the police. The North CEN Police have registered a case under the IT Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and an investigation is underway to trace the accused and recover the money.

A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court in Manjeri has sentenced a woman and her boyfriend to 180 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing the woman's daughter (12 year old). The convicts have also fine of 11.75 lakh rupees. Judge A.M. Ashraf ordered that the convicts will have to undergo an additional 20 months in jail if they fail to pay the fine. However, the sentences will run concurrently. The abuse continued for approximately one year from December 2019 to November 2020 at a rented house in Anamangadu, followed by another year at a house in Vallikkapatta. The court found that the convicts abused the girl after giving her liquor and showing her obscene videos. The conviction was made under various sections of the POCSO Act.
