According to police, the elderly woman lived with her son Ajay Saini and daughter Sonakshi Saini after the death of her husband. Both children are reportedly mentally unstable and had confined their mother inside a room for years. The case came to light when neighbours, concerned that the woman had not been seen for months, alerted the police. Acting swiftly, a police team reached the spot and found the woman lying weak and frail on the floor. She was immediately rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment.
