Woman’s Body Found in Car Near Kodagu Checkpost; Three Detained After Suspicious Turnback at 2 AM

A late-night inspection at the Lingapura Forest Checkpost in Kodagu district led to a shocking discovery after forest staff stopped a suspicious Alto-800 around 2 am on Friday. The car, which had attempted to turn away on spotting the staff, was intercepted and found to contain the body of a woman.

The staff immediately alerted Siddapur Police, and a team from Madikeri detained three occupants of the car and seized the vehicle.

Police identified the woman as Nanki Devi (44), originally from Haryana and residing in Metagalli, Mysuru, with her husband Rakesh Kumar and two friends, Vikas (32) and Satveer (32). According to police, Nanki Devi allegedly died by suicide at her rented home on Friday night when no one else was present.

Rakesh Kumar reportedly found her hanging after returning from work. In panic, he and his friends decided to take the body to Kodagu, during which they were stopped at the forest checkpost.

Rakesh told police that Nanki Devi had been suffering from epilepsy and had undergone repeated treatment in a Mysuru hospital.

Police are verifying the sequence of events and investigating why the body was being transported to Kodagu without informing authorities.
