Telangana: Woman, Two Nieces Injured in Tractor Attack Amid Land Dispute

A land dispute in Telangana’s Suryapet district escalated into violence on Sunday, November 23, when a man allegedly drove a tractor over his sister in Munagala village.

According to police, the accused, identified as Upender Reddy, attacked his elder sister Rajamma and two nieces, Sumitra and Lakshmi, during an argument over family property. All three suffered serious injuries. Locals immediately alerted emergency services and shifted the victims to a hospital through a 108 ambulance.

Videos circulating on social media show chaos in the agricultural field after the incident, with Rajamma crying in pain while Sumitra and Lakshmi attempt to shield each other.

Based on a complaint, Munagala Police registered a case of attempt to murder under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the dispute stems from the division of a 5-acre family property. After their mother’s death, a court order in 2023 allotted 3 acres to Rajamma, which Upender reportedly refused to accept. Multiple arguments had occurred earlier, and the latest clash erupted when Rajamma began harvesting paddy in her allotted field. Upender, angered by the division, allegedly brought a tractor to the spot and attacked.

Upender works as a BSNL employee in Tiruvur, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.

The other side of the family has alleged that the conflict also involved a financial dispute related to a loan given to the daughter, further straining relations.

Police are continuing their investigation.
