Father Returns from Kuwait, Throws Children into Godavari and Kills Them, Then Jumps In and Commits Suicide


In Lakkavaram, Malikipuram mandal (East Godavari), where a father returning from Kuwait allegedly killed his two children before taking his own life.


According to police, Shirigineedi Durgaprasad (37) told his son Mohit (13) and daughter Jahnavi (9) that he was taking them to update their Aadhaar cards. At the Godavari, he first threw his daughter into the river. Seeing this, his terrified son tried to run, but Durgaprasad chased him down, threw him into the river as well, and then jumped in himself.



An auto driver nearby initially assumed the father and son were just playing when he saw them running — moments before the tragedy unfolded.


Durgaprasad and his wife Nagaveni were in a love marriage. He had recently returned from Kuwait, where he had been working. Police say they are still investigating what led to the killings and the suicide. No suicide note has been found so far.

Agra Woman Threatens Suicide, Levels Allegations Against Police – Officials Call Claims False

  Agra: A serious dispute has emerged between a local woman and Trans Yamuna Police. The complainant, Sarju Yadav of Kalindi Vihar, alleged that police ignored a theft case at her house and behaved indecently with her. She claimed that if justice is not delivered, she may take her own life, holding the station staff and Inspector-in-Charge responsible. She also accused suspended inspector Rajkumar Goswami, earlier linked to her case, of misconduct. Police, however, have given a different version.
