Woman Kidnapped in Broad Daylight Near SP’s Office in Bhilwara, Accused Try to Run Over Policeman

A shocking abduction incident was reported in Bhilwara on Wednesday evening when a young woman was forcibly dragged into a black Scorpio near the SP’s bungalow, barely 50 metres from the Superintendent of Police’s office.

According to police and family members, the incident occurred around 6 pm as the woman was returning after submitting an affidavit at the SP’s office, seeking protection from her parental family. The woman, who had recently entered into a court marriage and was living in a live-in relationship, had earlier complained of threats to her life from her maternal side.

As she was leaving, occupants of a black Scorpio stopped the vehicle mid-road and abducted her. Police personnel present at the spot tried to intervene. ASI Pratap Singh of the Special Branch attempted to stop the vehicle by standing in front of it, but the accused allegedly tried to run him over and fled. His mobile phone fell and broke during the incident, and he narrowly escaped. Two lawyers and a bike rider were also put at risk as the vehicle sped away, creating panic in the area.

The woman’s in-laws alleged that her parental family, unhappy with the court marriage, was behind the abduction.

Additional SP Paras Jain said police immediately set up blockades across the district. The black Scorpio has been seized, the woman has been traced and detained for questioning, and some accused have been taken into custody. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
