Wedding Turns Violent in Greater Noida: Old Rivalry Erupts, Elderly Among Six Seriously Injured

A wedding ceremony in Rampur Fatehpur village, under the Dadri police station area of Greater Noida, descended into violence on Friday after a long-standing rivalry between two groups flared up, leaving several people seriously injured.

According to the police, the clash broke out during the Chadhat ceremony when 30 to 40 people allegedly attacked a group of wedding guests over an old personal dispute. The injured were rushed to Kailash Hospital in Greater Noida, where several of them are undergoing treatment in the ICU.

Soran Pradhan, national president of the Kisan Ekta Sangh, said that the victims are his relatives from Jaganpur village in Dankaur. He stated that around five to six months ago, his relatives—Devendra, Deshraj and others—had an altercation with a local farmer leader. A village panchayat was later held, but the rivalry reportedly continued, with the opposing group allegedly seeking revenge since then.

On Friday, when Pradhan’s relatives arrived in Rampur Fatehpur village to attend the wedding, the dispute escalated into a violent attack. The injured have been identified as Deshraj (80), Jagdish (70), Devendra (55), Virendra (50), Rajendra (45) and Srinivas (47). All sustained serious injuries.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident and shifted the injured to hospital. The victims’ family members have submitted a named complaint, following which a case has been registered. Police teams have launched a search operation to arrest the accused.

An investigation is currently underway.
