‘Stop Signal Turned Into Horror’: Speeding Car Drags Traffic Cop 500 Metres in Greater Noida, Driver on the Run

A shocking incident was reported from Greater Noida on January 27, where a traffic police constable was dragged on the bonnet of a speeding car after the driver ignored signals to stop.

The incident occurred at the Sector P3 roundabout amid heavy traffic congestion. Traffic constable Gurmeet Chaudhary was on duty regulating traffic when a red Hyundai i20 approached the roundabout at high speed. Despite repeated signals to stop, the driver allegedly accelerated and rammed into the constable.

To avoid being run over, Chaudhary landed on the car’s bonnet. The vehicle continued to speed, dragging him for nearly 500 metres, before slowing down and throwing him onto the roadside. The driver then fled the spot.

The injured constable was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for injuries. Police said his condition is stable and he is out of danger.

Based on Chaudhary’s complaint, an FIR has been registered at Beta-2 police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including rash and negligent driving, assault on a public servant, and attempt to murder.

Police officials said CCTV footage from the area is being analysed to trace the vehicle. Three police teams have been formed to identify and arrest the accused driver. No arrest had been made till January 28.

A video of the incident, reportedly shot by a passerby, has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage.
