SHOCKING: Zepto Delivery Boy Assaulted in Delhi | What Happened to Risha Kumar?

An 18-year-old Zepto delivery worker was allegedly assaulted and publicly humiliated at a Zepto store in East Delhi’s Old Kondli area after spraying perfume on himself. The incident took place on January 06


, 2026, following which an FIR was registered at the New Ashok Nagar police station.


The victim has been identified as Risha Kumar, also reported as Rishabh Kumar, a resident of Harijan Basti near Ambedkar Park. According to his complaint, he entered the Zepto store and sprayed perfume taken from a shelf. The act was noticed by store employees, after which he was allegedly confined inside the premises.


Kumar alleged that the store staff forced him to squat “like a chicken” as punishment and then assaulted him. The entire incident was reportedly captured on the store’s CCTV cameras. He sustained injuries and was later sent for medical examination.


Police said an FIR was registered after a PCR call and the victim’s statement. CCTV footage is being examined, witness statements are being recorded, and the role of the store owner and other staff members is under investigation. Officials said strict action will be taken if the allegations are found to be true.


The incident has raised fresh concerns over the safety and treatment of gig workers. It comes amid recent reports of assaults on delivery riders in Delhi, including a road rage attack on a Zepto rider. Notably, gig workers across the country had staged protests on New Year’s Eve 2025, demanding better working conditions and protection.
