‘Reel’ Turns Into Arrest: Youths Held for Vulgar Remarks at Narsinghpur Bus Stand

Police in the Stationganj police station area of Narsinghpur, Madhya Pradesh, have arrested two young men for allegedly making lewd and objectionable remarks at young women and uploading the video on social media.

According to police, the incident took place on Friday at the Stationganj bus stand, where the two youths, riding a motorcycle, recorded a 30–40 second video using highly offensive and vulgar language towards women present at the spot. The video was later uploaded on Instagram and other social media platforms as a “Reel”, triggering public outrage.

Taking cognisance of the viral video, Stationganj police station in-charge Saurabh Patel constituted a team to trace the accused. The two adult youths were soon identified and taken into custody. During interrogation, the accused claimed they had shot the video as a “joke”.

Terming the act as serious and an affront to the dignity of women, police registered a case against the two youths. Following their arrest, the accused uploaded another video on their Instagram accounts, publicly admitting their mistake and apologising.

Narsinghpur SDOP Manoj Gupta said that strict instructions were issued by Superintendent of Police Dr Rishikesh Meena to take immediate and stringent legal action. He warned that anyone indulging in indecent behaviour on social media under the guise of making jokes would face strict consequences.
