Office Romance Turns Fatal: HR Executive Murdered by Lover Over Suspicion in Agra

A love relationship between two office colleagues ended in a brutal murder after suspicion and jealousy took over, police said on Sunday.

According to DCP City Syed Ali Abbas, the accused, Vinay, and the victim, Minky, worked at the same company in Agra. Minky had been employed as an HR executive for the past four years, while Vinay joined the firm two years ago. The two were in a relationship for nearly two years and wanted to marry despite belonging to different castes.

Police said the relationship deteriorated over the past six months after Vinay began suspecting Minky. He alleged that she was demanding money from him, which she said was required for her brother’s marriage. Vinay refused to give her money and also claimed that Minky was preventing him from marrying anyone else. His suspicion deepened when she started speaking frequently to someone on the phone, which she described as office-related.

Investigators revealed that Vinay remained angry for several days and had purchased a knife a few days before the incident. When Minky came to the office, the two argued again. During the altercation, Vinay allegedly attacked her with the knife, stabbing her eight times on the neck, head, stomach and hands. Police said he continued the assault until she died.

After the murder, Vinay allegedly sat in the office for a long time before planning to dispose of the body. Influenced by crime-based films and web series, he attempted to destroy evidence. Police said he severed the victim’s head, removed her clothes and packed the body parts separately in polythene bags, along with her mobile phone.

Late at night, he allegedly carried the sacks on a scooter and attempted to dump them into the Yamuna river. However, due to the weight of the sack and the presence of pedestrians, he abandoned it near Jawahar Bridge and fled.

During the investigation, police found that the office had been washed to remove blood stains. A forensic team was called to collect samples using chemical analysis. CCTV DVRs were seized, and the accused’s scooter, clothes and the victim’s mobile phone were recovered.

Police said Vinay has been trying to show remorse during interrogation, claiming he cannot live without Minky. However, officers said the evidence—including CCTV footage and recovered materials—clearly points to a planned attempt to conceal the crime.

Efforts were ongoing late into the night to recover the severed head from a nearby drain, while police are also verifying the role of a friend whom Vinay contacted after the incident.
