‘Miracle or Mystery?’ Neem Tree Emits Sparks Near Shiva Temple in UP, Devotees Flock in Hundreds
Claims of divine intervention surfaced after sparks were seen emerging from a neem tree near a Shiva temple in Sarai Baroliya village under the Ughaiti police station area of Budaun district, Uttar Pradesh.
The incident occurred on Friday, January 23, 2026, during a Lakshmi Narayan Mahayagya at the ancient Siddh Baba Bholenath Shiva temple. According to locals, sparks began coming out from the roots of the neem tree located directly in front of the temple around 8 am. The tree reportedly continued to burn internally for nearly 18 hours, while its outer surface remained green and intact.
Villagers attempted to extinguish the fire by pouring water and covering it with soil, but the sparks continued until late at night. As news spread, large crowds from nearby villages gathered at the site, which is considered sacred due to the presence of an ancient forest area and a mysterious cave nearby.
Hundreds of devotees performed pooja and circumambulation around the tree, interpreting the incident as a divine sign associated with Lord Shiva. Women and children were also seen participating in prayers, while discussions continued over whether the incident was a miracle or a natural phenomenon.
Some locals believe the event confirms the spiritual power of the siddh site, while others suggest it may have been caused by natural or chemical factors. No scientific explanation has been confirmed so far. Officials have taken note of the incident, and the fire has now completely extinguished.
