Lover Kidnaps Girlfriend’s 1-Year-Old to Force Her Hand, Caught on Train
A man who abducted his married girlfriend’s one-year-old son to pressure her into eloping was arrested at Kanpur Central railway station in Uttar Pradesh.
The accused, Hemant Kumar, had arrived in Delhi from Bihar on Friday to meet the woman. When she refused to leave with him, he allegedly kidnapped her child on the pretext of buying a toy and fled on the Vikramshila Express.
After the child went missing, the woman lodged a kidnapping FIR at Kapashera West police station in Delhi. Using CCTV footage and technical surveillance, police traced the accused’s movement and alerted authorities in Kanpur.
As the Vikramshila Express reached Kanpur Central around 8.10 pm on Friday, RPF and GRP teams surrounded the train and searched all coaches. The accused was found in the rear coach with the child and was arrested.
Inspector S N Patidar, in-charge of the RPF post, said the accused initially denied the offence but later confessed, admitting he hoped the woman would follow him after the abduction.
During the rescue, a female RPF constable comforted the crying child, fed him milk, changed his diaper and kept him warm until he fell asleep. On Saturday morning, the child was safely handed over to his mother. The accused will be produced before a court and sent to jail.
