Love Turns Lethal in UP: Wife, Her Woman Partner Plot Husband’s Murder for ₹60,000 in Fatehpur

Police have solved the sensational murder case of farmer Ramsumer Singrour in Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, revealing that the crime was allegedly plotted by his wife Renu Devi along with her female partner Malti Devi. The husband was killed after he objected to their relationship and stopped them from meeting.

According to police, Renu Devi hired an e-rickshaw driver, Jitendra Gupta, for ₹60,000 to murder her husband. An advance of ₹8,000 was paid, with the remaining amount to be given after the crime. Jitendra, along with his associates Raju Sonkar and Ramprakash alias Maddu, allegedly carried out the murder on the night of January 14.

Police said Ramsumer Singrour, a resident of Tikar village under Asothar police station, had gone to a tube well late at night after attending his grandson’s birthday party. There, Jitendra allegedly caught him from behind and strangled him with a rope, while Ramprakash slit his throat with a knife. His blood-soaked body was found the next morning in a pigeon pea field near the tube well.

During the investigation, police ruled out land disputes and extramarital affairs involving the deceased. Surveillance of mobile phones revealed frequent communication between Renu Devi and Malti Devi before and after the murder. Police detained both women and, during questioning, Malti Devi allegedly confessed to the conspiracy.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mahendra Pal Singh and CO Thariyanv Veer Singh said the relationship between Renu and Malti had been ongoing for nearly two years. Ramsumer had reportedly caught them in a compromising position around three months ago and subsequently imposed restrictions on their meetings. To continue communicating, Malti allegedly bought a keypad mobile phone, issued a SIM in her name, and gave it to Renu. Police also revealed that Malti had got Renu’s name tattooed on her hand.

Malti Devi, who has been married three times in the past and lives separately with her nine-year-old child, allegedly could not accept the separation. Police said the increasing tension and alleged domestic violence led to the conspiracy to eliminate Ramsumer.

Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar Singh said that the deceased’s wife and her female partner, along with three other accused, are being sent to jail. Police have recovered two mobile phones, the rope used in the murder, and blood-stained clothes. The search is on for absconding accused Jitendra Gupta and Ramprakash alias Maddu.

The murder case was initially registered against unknown persons at Asothar police station. A joint team of the Intelligence Wing, SOG, Surveillance Cell and local police later cracked the case.
