Love, Lies and Beef Trap: Lucknow Woman Frames Husband Twice to Live With Lover
In a case that reads like a crime thriller, a woman from Lucknow allegedly orchestrated an elaborate conspiracy to frame her husband, Wasim, twice in cow slaughter cases so that she could live with her lover, Amaan. Police say the plan involved deception, fake identities, planted evidence and misuse of religious sensitivities.
According to Lucknow Police, the woman and Amaan became acquainted through Instagram nearly two years ago. Amaan, a BTech graduate in computer science from Bhopal, frequently travelled to Lucknow to meet her. The woman holds a postgraduate degree in English literature from Aligarh Muslim University, while her husband Wasim is a businessman in the paper industry.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Lucknow West) Vishwajeet Srivastava said the conspiracy was first conceived in August last year. The objective was to have Wasim arrested in a cow slaughter case, thereby paving the way for a divorce and his prolonged incarceration.
In September, Amaan allegedly joined Bajrang Dal using a fake Hindu identity under the name “Rahul”. With keys provided by the woman, he allegedly planted around 30 kilograms of meat in Wasim’s Mahindra Thar, which was parked at a Hazratganj parking lot. He then tipped off Hindu activists, who informed the police. The meat was recovered, and Wasim was arrested. He spent nearly a month in jail before being released on bail, after the case was later found to be fabricated.
When the first attempt failed to achieve the desired outcome, the woman allegedly planned a second trap. On 14 January, she booked an online transport vehicle using Wasim’s mobile phone and shared the OTP with Amaan. He reportedly brought 12 kilograms of cow meat from Bhopal.
An e-rickshaw was directed to collect a gunny bag containing the consignment from the Old City area of Lucknow, with the drop location set near Wasim’s factory in Kakori. Once again, Amaan allegedly alerted members of a Hindu organisation, who passed on the information to the police. On 15 January, Kakori police intercepted the vehicle and seized the meat. Wasim was again detained, as the rickshaw driver possessed both his and his wife’s phone numbers.
During questioning, Wasim informed police that he had installed CCTV cameras at home, suspecting his wife of having an affair. On reviewing the footage, police found that the woman had accessed his phone to receive the OTP while he was in the washroom. Further investigation revealed her communication with Amaan.
Inspector Satish Chandra Rathore of Kakori police station stated that Amaan used Wasim’s identity documents to book the online porter from Aminabad to Kakori. The beef was transported from Bhopal, concealed in a cardboard box, and deliberately positioned to ensure police interception. To hasten action, Amaan again tipped off Bajrang Dal members under a false identity.
Police further revealed that the accused met on 31 December and even procured a SIM card in a beggar’s name to coordinate the delivery.
On 18 January, police laid a trap and arrested Amaan, who allegedly confessed to the conspiracy. However, the woman had already absconded. Acting on intelligence, a police team attempted to arrest her at the Allahabad High Court campus on 20 January. During the operation, chaos broke out after lawyers protested against the police for allegedly providing misleading information and trespassing. Taking advantage of the commotion, the woman managed to escape.
Three police personnel were subsequently suspended and booked for trespassing. While Amaan remains in custody, police say the search is on to trace the absconding woman.
