Job-Seeking Paramedical Student Found Murdered in Dharwad, Body Dumped on City Outskirts
A brutal murder case has come to light in Dharwad, sending shockwaves across the district. A young paramedical student, who had left home to visit a lab, was found murdered and her body dumped on the outskirts of the city.
The deceased has been identified as Zakia Mulla, daughter of Yunus Mulla, a resident of Gandhi Chowk, Dharwad. While initial reports described her as 19 years old, police later identified her age as 21. Zakia had completed her paramedical education and was actively searching for a job.
According to the police, Zakia left her house on Tuesday evening after informing her family that she was going to a lab. When she did not return home by night, her family members grew worried and began searching for her. Despite efforts throughout the night, they were unable to trace her.
Early Wednesday morning, Zakia’s body was found in a deserted area near Vinay Dairy on Mansur Road, on the outskirts of Dharwad. The location reportedly belongs to MLA Vinay Kulkarni. Police suspect that Zakia was murdered at another location and her body was later dumped at the spot in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Police teams from Dharwad Rural and Vidyagiri police stations rushed to the scene and carried out a preliminary inspection. The body was sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death.
As news of the murder spread, Zakia’s parents and relatives rushed to the spot and broke down in grief. Expressing anger and anguish, family members said their daughter, who was only trying to secure a job, did not deserve such a fate. They have demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits and strict punishment.
Dharwad District Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya said that Zakia had gone missing after leaving home on Tuesday afternoon. “Information was received early this morning by Dharwad City and Vidyagiri police stations. The body has now been found. Police personnel are collecting evidence, and the SOCO team is also inspecting the spot. Clear details will emerge after the post-mortem,” she said.
Police have registered a murder case and intensified the investigation. Call records from Zakia’s mobile phone are being examined to determine motive.
