Jabalpur: Speeding Car Flattens Power Pole, Accident Hotspot Claims Yet Again

A high-speed car crashed into a power pole in Jabalpur early Thursday morning, once again highlighting the danger of the Bilhari–Tilhari stretch, which has seen repeated accidents. The incident occurred around 5 am when the car, travelling from Jabalpur towards Barela, lost control and rammed into the pole with such force that it was uprooted.

The driver narrowly escaped serious injury as the car’s airbag deployed in time. A video of the accident has since surfaced on social media. Following the crash, the damaged power pole led to a power outage in the surrounding area.

Police from Gora Bazaar police station reached the spot after receiving information, seized the vehicle, and launched a search for the driver, who was not found at the scene. The car involved in the accident bears registration number MP 20 ZA 9922.

The Bilhari–Tilhari area has emerged as a major accident hotspot, with mishaps being reported almost daily. Earlier, on January 8, a similar incident was reported in the Bilhari area when a speeding car rammed into a roadside shop late at night. No casualties were reported in that case, and Dial 112 police reached the spot. No formal complaint was filed as the matter was settled mutually between the driver and the shop owner.
