Inter-Caste Love Marriage Sparks Street Attack in Chikkaballapur, Shocking Twist at Police Station

Tension prevailed near Mayura Circle in Sidlaghatta town of Chikkaballapur district after a newly married inter-caste couple was allegedly attacked by the woman’s family members.

The couple, Sandeep (24) from the ST community and Keerthana (19) from the Balijiga community, had been in a relationship for about a year. After leaving their homes two days ago, they reportedly got married at the Kotagal Narasimhaswamy temple in Chintamani taluk.

Police said the woman’s parents had earlier filed a missing complaint. On Tuesday, when the couple was travelling towards the police station, the woman’s family allegedly intercepted their car near Sidlaghatta, smashed its glass and tried to forcibly take her away. The woman reportedly refused to go with her parents, insisting she would stay with her husband.

However, during questioning at the police station, police records reportedly revealed that Sandeep was named in previous cases, including a 2024 case involving an underage girl, a cheating case, and a POCSO case registered in Bengaluru. Another alleged victim also arrived at the police station and gave a statement.

Following these developments, the newly married woman reportedly removed her mangalsutra and left with her family members. A case has been registered at the Chikkaballapur Women’s Police Station, and police said further investigation is underway.
