Hebbagodi Police Arrest 23-Year-Old "Innerwear Thief" in Vidya Nagar | Bengaluru News
The Hebbagodi Police, under the Electronic City Division of Bengaluru, have arrested a 23-year-old man accused of stealing women’s undergarments and humiliating victims by posing in them and taking photographs.
Police said complaints were received on January 19 from residents of Vidya Nagar, who reported suspicious activity involving a man allegedly prowling rooftops and courtyards to steal garments left out to dry.
According to investigators, the accused would wear the stolen undergarments and photograph himself, acts police described as deliberate attempts to insult the modesty and dignity of women.
Acting on a tip-off, a Hoysala patrol team apprehended the suspect while he was allegedly in the act of stealing clothes. He has been identified as Amal N. A (23), a resident of Somraj Building near Ganesh Temple in Hebbagodi.
A subsequent search of his residence led to the recovery of multiple women’s undergarments and several photographs showing the accused wearing the stolen items.
Police have registered a suo-moto case against him under Sections 303(2), 329(4), and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused had been involved in such activities for a considerable period.
Further investigation is underway.
