Harassed to Death: Woman Constable Ends Life After Two Men Allegedly Ruin Her Career and Dignity



A tragic incident has been reported from Warangal district, where a woman police constable allegedly died by suicide after being unable to endure prolonged harassment by two men.


The deceased, Anitha, a resident of Seethyatanda in Parvathagiri mandal, was working in the AR section of the Warangal Police Commissionerate. According to police, Anitha had been facing mental harassment for several years from a distant relative, Rajender, a resident of Kommanapalli thanda in Torrur mandal of Mahabubabad district.


Police said Rajender had been insisting for the past four years that Anitha marry him. He allegedly harassed her by forcing her to attend video calls even while she was on duty and objected to her speaking closely with anyone else. Anitha’s parents reportedly opposed the marriage proposal, citing Rajender’s behaviour.


In the meantime, Rajender came to know that Anitha was close to her friend Jabbar Lal and was considering marrying him. Following this, Rajender allegedly contacted Jabbar Lal and gave him false information about Anitha. Subsequently, Jabbar Lal also began harassing her.



According to the complaint, Jabbar Lal allegedly told Anitha that he would marry her only if she gave him money, further adding to her distress. Unable to cope with the pressure, Anitha reportedly called Rajender in tears and told him that both of them had ruined her life and that she saw death as her only option. Police said Rajender allegedly responded casually, telling her, “If you want to die, then die.”


Soon after, Anitha consumed pesticide (gaddi mandu) and died by suicide.


Police have registered a case against Rajender and Jabbar Lal on charges related to harassment and abetment to suicide. An investigation is currently underway.
