Drunk Driver’s Speeding Car Mows Down Bikes, Man Thrown in Air; CCTV Horror in Roorkee
Panic gripped Roorkee in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar district after a speeding car driven by an allegedly drunk man rammed into two parked bikes and hit a young man outside a shop. The incident occurred on Saturday, January 3, in the Ganganagar Kotwali area and was captured on CCTV, with the video now going viral on social media.
According to reports, the car was heading towards the market from Durga Chowk when, near Nehru Stadium, the driver attempted to take a turn. Instead, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into two bikes parked outside a shop. A man coming out of the shop was struck by the car and thrown several feet into the air, leaving him seriously injured.
Bystanders rushed the injured man to hospital and caught hold of the driver at the spot. Police said the driver was so heavily intoxicated that he could not even disclose his name for several hours. The damaged bikes and the car were seized by the police.
The injured shopkeeper, identified as Arun Kumar, has filed a complaint demanding strict action. Inspector Manohar Bhandari, in-charge of the Ganga Canal police station, confirmed that the driver was in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident and that an investigation is underway.
