Drunk Driver Loses Control on 100 Feet Road, Car Crashes Into Restaurant Wall in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A major accident was narrowly avoided late Thursday night after a speeding car crashed into the wall of a restaurant on the busy 100 Feet Road in Indiranagar. The incident occurred around 11.35 pm and was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.
Police identified the driver as 42-year-old Derrick Tony, who was driving a Skoda car from 18th Main Road towards 100 Feet Road. According to investigators, the car was at high speed when the driver attempted to take a left turn, failed to slow down, lost control, mounted the road divider and veered across lanes.
Police said the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. CCTV footage shows the car jumping the divider and narrowly missing a group of people standing outside the restaurant before hitting a two-wheeler and slamming into the restaurant wall, causing significant damage.
The two-wheeler rider, Jabir Ahmed, sustained minor injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable. No injuries were reported among the pedestrians.
A complaint has been registered at the Jeevan Bheema Nagar Traffic Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
