CCTV Twist in Bengaluru: ‘Boy Thieves’ Turn Out to Be Women Disguised as Men

In a surprising case from Bengaluru, the Sampigehalli police have arrested two women who disguised themselves as young boys to carry out a series of house burglaries in broad daylight.

The accused, identified as Shalu and Neelu, residents of Tanari Road, would roam neighbourhoods on a two-wheeler, carefully targeting unoccupied houses. Dressed like boys, they managed to evade suspicion while casing homes and committing thefts.

The case came to light on January 13, when Sangamesh, an auto driver living in Agrahara Layout near Yelahanka, returned home to find his house burgled. According to police, the thieves had been closely monitoring the family’s movements and struck soon after the house was locked.

Following the complaint, the Sampigehalli police analysed CCTV footage from the area. The visuals clearly showed two individuals, appearing to be young boys, arriving on a scooter and entering the house. Police traced the registration number of the vehicle seen in the footage.

Using the CCTV evidence and vehicle details, the police tracked down and arrested the suspects. Officers were reportedly shocked when the individuals they believed to be young male thieves were revealed to be women.

Police said the duo had adopted the disguise to avoid suspicion and had allegedly carried out multiple thefts using the same modus operandi. Further investigation is underway to determine the number of cases linked to the accused.
