Blue Box Horror in Jhansi: Retired Railway Employee Kills Girlfriend, Burns Body, Tries to Dump Remains in Taxi
A chilling murder case, reminiscent of the recent Meerut blue drum incident, has come to light from Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh. A retired railway employee allegedly murdered his live-in partner, hid her body for over a week, later burnt it, and attempted to dispose of the remains in a box using a taxi.
The incident surfaced late Saturday night near Minerva Square in the Kotwali police station area when a taxi driver alerted Dial 112 after sensing a foul smell coming from a blue box placed in his vehicle. When police opened the box, they found charred pieces of a woman’s body, burnt bones, coal, ash and water.
Police investigation revealed that the accused, Ram Singh Parihar, a retired railway employee living in the Sipri Bazaar police station area, was in a live-in relationship with a 40-year-old woman, Preeti. He had rented a house for her in Lahar village. Ram Singh’s first wife lives in a railway outhouse, while his second wife resides in the Sayer Gate area.
According to Sipri Bazaar SHO Vinod Kumar Mishra, Ram Singh strangled Preeti to death on January 7 after being allegedly harassed and blackmailed over repeated monetary demands. He then hid the body in the rented room for several days. When the body began to decompose and emit a strong odour, Ram Singh allegedly asked his son to bring firewood and a box.
On the intervening night of January 16 and 17, the accused allegedly burnt the body inside the room. The burnt remains, bones, coal and ash were then packed into a blue box. On the night of January 17–18, Ram Singh hired a taxi, placed the box inside, and asked the driver to take it to Minerva Square. He followed the taxi on his motorcycle but disappeared midway.
On reaching Minerva Square, the taxi driver noticed a strong stench and liquid leaking from the box, prompting him to call the police. The shocking contents of the box exposed the crime.
Police said the body has been prima facie identified, and a DNA test will be conducted to confirm the identity. Two people, including the accused’s son, have been detained and are being questioned. Further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events.
