Argument Over Alcohol Leads to Brutal Murder of Mother and Wife in Parsa

A shocking double murder has come to light in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh, sending shockwaves through the area. The deceased have been identified as Runa Devi (60) and her daughter-in-law Priyanka (28). Police have arrested the accused, Sikandar Gupta (30), a resident of Parsa village under the Ahirauli Bazaar police station limits.

According to the police, Sikandar Gupta is a drug addict. On Sunday evening, he returned home in an intoxicated state, following which his mother, Runa Devi, scolded him for his addiction. An argument broke out between Sikandar, his mother and his wife. He later went to sleep without eating.

Villagers said that after the domestic dispute, Sikandar left the house and went to Lakshmipur village, about eight kilometres away, where he created a ruckus by shouting and banging on the door of a house. After being informed by villagers, his brother-in-law Sonu reached the spot and brought him back home.

Later, in a fit of rage, Sikandar allegedly attacked his mother, killing her by smashing her head with a heavy object — a pillar fitted with iron rods used for a mosquito net. When his wife Priyanka rushed in after hearing the screams, he attacked and killed her in a similar manner.

After committing the murders, the accused reportedly sat outside the house. On receiving information, the police reached the spot and took him into custody. A bloodstained heavy object used in the crime has been recovered.

Circle Officer Kundan Kumar Singh inspected the scene and gathered details. A forensic team also collected evidence from the spot. The double murder has created panic and outrage in the village. Police said the accused has been brought to the police station and further legal action is underway.
