Aligarh Woman Ties Drunk Husband to Bed; Mother-in-Law Alleges Threats With Illegal Gun
A domestic dispute in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh has taken a dramatic turn after a woman allegedly tied her husband to a bed over his drinking habits, triggering police action following the circulation of a viral video.
The incident was reported from Hamidpur village under the Tappal police station area. A video widely shared on social media shows a man tied to a cot, while his wife is heard shouting nearby. According to the family, the woman restrained and allegedly assaulted her husband after accusing him of being drunk.
After the video surfaced, the man’s mother approached the police with a formal complaint. She also submitted a photograph which she claims shows her daughter-in-law holding a country-made pistol. The family has alleged that the woman has been threatening her husband with the illegal firearm.
“My son Pradeep is repeatedly beaten by his wife. She has a pistol and threatens to kill him. Despite searching the house, we could not find the weapon,” the mother alleged, adding that the couple has been married for four years and the harassment has continued for the past two years.
Family members said villagers rushed to the house after learning of the incident and freed the man from the cot. The mother also claimed that earlier complaints to the police and local representatives did not lead to any action.
Police confirmed receiving the complaint and said they are examining the viral video and the allegations related to the firearm. In an official statement, police said Pradeep often quarrels with his wife and neighbours after consuming alcohol, following which his wife tied him to the cot.
Tappal police have summoned the woman for questioning and stated that a detailed investigation is underway to verify all claims, including the alleged possession of an illegal weapon.
