Aligarh Shock: Man Accused of Hiding Identity, Forcing Conversion; ‘Love Jihad’ FIR Filed, Accused Counters Claims

Aligarh: A controversial case has emerged from Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, where a woman has accused a man of hiding his identity, trapping her in a relationship, forcibly converting her to Islam and later abandoning her. The matter came to light after the woman approached the police seeking justice, following which an FIR was registered on serious charges.

According to the complaint, the victim, a resident of Rorawar, alleged that a man named Firoz contacted her using the name “Rakesh.” She claimed he lured her with the promise of a job, drugged her by mixing a substance in her cold drink, and sexually assaulted her. She further alleged that the act was recorded and later used to blackmail her. The woman said she was pressured into converting to Islam, her name was changed to Alia, and she was married to Firoz. She alleged that she was later abandoned and threatened with death when she protested.

The victim, who now has a young child, approached the SSP’s office demanding strict action. Police have registered a case against Firoz under charges including fraud, r@pe, blackmail and criminal intimidation. The woman has also alleged forced religious conversion.

After the FIR was filed, Firoz released a video presenting his version of events. In the video, he claimed to be a resident of Tarasur Khurd and said he works in a factory where he met the woman around two to two-and-a-half years ago. He denied the allegations and claimed their relationship developed mutually.

Firoz alleged that the documents being circulated by the woman were fake and demanded a thorough investigation. He said a Nikah certificate always bears a mosque seal and is recorded in a register, which he claimed could be verified. He also alleged that he had spent ₹6–7 lakh on the woman, was constructing a house for her, had given her a plot of land, and transferred money to her bank account, claiming to have proof.

He further alleged that the woman was demanding ₹5 lakh from him and that after he refused, she approached the media and police. Calling the allegations false, Firoz requested the authorities to investigate the case impartially.

Police said the matter is under investigation and all allegations and counter-claims will be examined based on evidence.
