Speeding Cop’s Thar Turns Killer on Highway: One Dead, SI Suspended
A female sub-inspector of the Madhya Pradesh Police allegedly ran over four people with her speeding Thar SUV on the Indore–Bhopal highway late on Friday evening(12 Dec 2025) , leaving one person dead and three others injured.
According to police, the accident occurred when a red Thar vehicle (registration number MP04 ZW 7803) lost control, mounted the pavement and rammed into roadside blanket shops, also hitting a motorcycle. At the time of the incident, two victims were sitting inside a blanket shop, while the other two were riding the bike.
All four injured were rushed to Bhopal for treatment, where two were reported to be in critical condition. Vijay, one of the bike riders, later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Narmada Trauma Hospital.
The deceased and injured have been identified as:
1. Vakil (28), son of Girdhari, resident of Ujjain
2. Lakhan (16), son of Madan Lal, resident of Mahidpur, Ujjain
3. Hridesh Rajoria (40), son of Rajaram Rajoria, resident of Ratibad, Bhopal
4. Vijay, son of Rajaram, resident of Ratibad, Bhopal
Hridesh and Vijay were brothers.
The Thar was being driven by Kiran Singh Rajput, a female sub-inspector posted at Ashta police station in Madhya Pradesh.
Kotwali Police Station in-charge Ravindra Yadav said a case has been registered against the driver and an investigation has been initiated. The preliminary probe has been handed over to the City Superintendent of Police (CSP), Sehore.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the vehicle was moving at very high speed, causing victims to be thrown off the road. Blanket seller Toofan Singh Banjara lodged the complaint at Kotwali Police Station.
CSP Dr Abhinandana Sharma confirmed that an FIR has been registered against SI Kiran Singh Rajput on the basis of the complaint. Treating the incident as serious negligence and misconduct, Sehore Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Shukla has suspended SI Kiran Singh Rajput and attached her to the Sehore Protection Centre.
