Schoolgirl Seriously Injured After Truck Tyre Burst on Narrow Road in Delhi’s Mehrauli
A school-going girl was seriously injured after a truck’s tyre burst in Delhi’s Mehrauli area on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred while the girl was on her way to school.
According to local shopkeepers, the truck was slowly moving through a narrow road with the help of a cleaner when the girl approached it. Suddenly, one of the truck’s tyres burst with a loud explosion, striking the girl and leaving her badly injured.
CCTV footage of the incident, which has since gone viral, shows the girl wearing a jacket and walking along the road as the truck attempts to pass through the narrow lane. Moments later, the tyre explodes, after which the girl is seen struggling to walk before being helped away by people nearby.
Shopkeepers said the accident took place around 7.30 am. The injured girl has not yet been identified. Manish Jindal, a local shopkeeper, alleged negligence by drivers of heavy vehicles operating in the market area.
Residents and traders claimed that such risky movement of heavy vehicles is a daily occurrence, as a vegetable market nearby receives large trucks early in the morning, coinciding with school hours. They have demanded strict action by the administration to regulate heavy vehicle movement and prevent similar incidents in the future.
