Sambhal Blind Murder Cracked: Wife, Lover Arrested After Dismembered Body Found in Drain
Uttar Pradesh Police have solved a chilling blind murder case in Sambhal district, in which a woman and her lover allegedly killed her husband, dismembered his body, and dumped the parts at different locations to mislead investigators.
The case came to light on December 15, when Chandausi Kotwali police recovered a severely decomposed torso stuffed in a black bag from behind an Idgah on Patroua Road. The body was missing its head and limbs, making identification difficult.
During forensic examination, police noticed a tattoo with the name “Rahul” on the severed arm, which proved to be a crucial breakthrough. A check of missing person records revealed that a woman named Ruby, a resident of Chunni Mohalla, had filed a complaint on November 24 stating that her husband Rahul had gone missing since November 18.
Ruby was called for questioning, but she denied that the torso belonged to her husband. However, police grew suspicious due to contradictions in her statements and her nervous behaviour. A search of her mobile phone further exposed the truth, as officers found photographs of Rahul wearing the same T-shirt that was recovered with the mutilated body.
Confronted with the evidence, Ruby broke down and confessed that she had been having an affair with a local youth, Gaurav. She told police that on the night of November 17–18, Rahul caught them in a compromising position at home, leading to a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Rahul was allegedly assaulted and killed.
To destroy evidence, Ruby and Gaurav allegedly used a cutter machine to chop the body into pieces. Police said the head and limbs were packed into one bag and thrown into the Ganges near Rajghat, while the torso was dumped near the Idgah on Patroua Road. Ruby later filed a missing report to divert suspicion.
A subsequent search of the house led to the recovery of the cutter machine and other incriminating materials, while forensic teams found signs that the body had been dismembered inside the residence. Neighbours’ statements and inputs from the couple’s 10-year-old daughter also helped investigators piece together the conspiracy.
Both Ruby and Gaurav have been arrested and produced in court. Police are continuing efforts to recover the remaining body parts and strengthen the case with forensic and scientific evidence.
Officials said it was the combination of the tattoo on the decomposed body and the mobile phone photographs that ultimately exposed what was initially believed to be a near-perfect crime. The brutal murder has sent shockwaves across Sambhal.
