Raipur DSP Love-Trap Scandal: Businessman Looted of ₹2.5 Crore? Shocking Allegations Rock Chhattisgarh Police
A complaint filed at Raipur’s Khamhardih police station has triggered major unrest within the Chhattisgarh police department. Businessman Deepak Tandon has accused State Police Service officer and Dantewada-posted DSP Kalpana Verma of blackmail, bribery and threats—allegedly carried out through a fabricated love affair.
DSP Kalpana Verma, a 2016–17 batch officer and former CSP as well as DSP-ATS of Mana police station, is accused of duping the businessman of more than ₹2.5 crore on the pretext of marriage. Deepak has submitted WhatsApp chats and CCTV footage as evidence. He claims he was threatened with false criminal cases if he did not withdraw his complaint. Police reportedly delayed the investigation citing the high-profile nature of the case. Both sides have now filed FIRs against each other.
According to Deepak, during their two-year relationship, he transferred ₹2.5 crore to the DSP through bank and online payments. The amount allegedly includes a ₹12-lakh diamond ring, a ₹10-lakh bracelet, gold jewellery worth ₹5 lakh each, and expensive clothing and shopping expenses.
He further alleges that he was pressured into registering Atmospheria Hotel on VIP Road in the name of Kalpana’s brother, despite paying a major amount himself. Deepak claims the DSP invested only ₹30 lakh but got the property registered in her name. Additionally, a Toyota Hyryder worth ₹22 lakh—registered in Deepak’s wife Barkha’s name—was allegedly taken over by the DSP. Barkha has submitted a complaint seeking protection for her husband.
Media reports indicate that Kalpana enjoyed significant influence during the previous Congress regime. Her transfer to Bastar, along with 38 other DSPs, was reportedly cancelled, allowing her to retain a senior posting in Raipur. Sources claim senior IPS officers, including Sheikh Arif, played a role in altering the transfer orders. Although the BJP government eventually moved her to Dantewada, reports allege she continued using luxury government vehicles without number plates in Raipur. She is also informally linked to multiple illegal property and financial dealings, though these claims remain unverified.
Despite the complaint being pending for a long time, the police station in-charge allegedly refused to act. Senior officers including the SP and ADG have maintained that protection protocols are being followed. Deepak continues to appeal to senior officials and prominent citizens for justice. Meanwhile, the DSP’s brother has filed a counter-complaint against Deepak. Insiders claim romantic entanglements within police circles often arise, but the situation is now escalating into criminal disputes.
DSP Kalpana Verma has denied all allegations, calling them “false, baseless and part of a conspiracy” to damage her career. Speaking to Bansal News, she said she is prepared to cooperate with any inquiry and asserted confidence that the truth will emerge.
