or Cold-Blooded Murder? Shocking Allegations Against Woman Constable Expose a Deep Conspiracy

The mystery surrounding the death of Inspector Arun Kumar Rai in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, has intensified, with conflicting claims emerging over whether the incident was a suicide or a planned murder. While the initial report labelled it as suicide allegedly driven by harassment from woman constable Meenakshi Sharma, a fresh FIR filed by the inspector’s wife, Maya Rai, accuses Sharma of murder or conspiracy to murder.

Senior police officers continue to treat the case as suicide, yet several circumstances have raised serious doubts. The inspector’s body was found inside a mosquito net, and no bullet from the 9mm pistol was recovered from the room.

Constable Meenakshi Sharma, now under intense questioning, had reportedly been in close contact with Inspector Rai since July 2024, when both were posted at the Konch police station in Jalaun. Their relationship is said to have continued even after their transfers to Orai and Kuthaund, with Sharma frequently visiting him.

Investigators have found that Meenakshi, who uses an iPhone, recently lost ₹3 lakh in a bet, allegedly funded by Inspector Rai. Departmental sources further claim she possessed private videos of the officer and used them to blackmail him. Rai had reportedly gifted her an iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh and a diamond necklace valued at ₹3 lakh.

On Friday around 9 pm, Inspector Rai is said to have shot himself with his service revolver, the bullet striking his head. CCTV footage captured Meenakshi entering his residence shortly before the incident. Within three minutes of the gunshot, she was seen fleeing while talking on the phone. She informed the station staff, “Sir has shot himself,” before leaving the premises.

Rai, a native of Sant Kabir Nagar, joined the Uttar Pradesh Police as a constable in 1998. He became known for integrity and diligence, was promoted to sub-inspector in 2012, and rose to the rank of inspector in 2023. He was posted as the Station House Officer of Kuthaund in August 2025 and was known for being calm, approachable, and strict in duty.

Meenakshi’s wedding was scheduled for February 2026. She allegedly demanded ₹25 lakh from Rai to cover the entire wedding expenditure and threatened to reveal their private videos to his wife if he refused. She was found carrying three mobile phones and four SIM cards, while the inspector had three SIM cards. Police are examining call records, chat data, and recent absences from duty. The possibility of a third person’s involvement is also being investigated.

Inspector Rai’s wife, Maya Rai, broke down after seeing his body and was consoled by Orai CO Archana Singh, who described Rai as a positive and composed officer. His mortal remains were later taken to his native village Rajnauli in Sant Kabir Nagar.

Based on Maya Rai’s complaint, police have registered a murder case against Meenakshi Sharma. SP Durgesh Kumar stated that the investigation is in progress and assured strict action against all individuals found responsible.
