Love, R*pe Case and Poison: Hapur Man’s Death Sparks Hospital Chaos, Slippers Fly as Video Goes Viral

Hapur: A 27-year-old man allegedly consumed poison at the house of his married girlfriend in the Garhmukteshwar police station area of Hapur district on Thursday, leading to his death during treatment and a dramatic scene at a government health centre.

The deceased, identified as Rinku, a resident of the main market area of Garhmukteshwar, had been in a relationship with the woman for about five years. The woman has been living separately from her husband for several years following a dispute, the family alleged.

According to police, Rinku reached the woman’s house between 12 pm and 1 pm on Thursday. After an argument, he allegedly consumed a poisonous substance. When foam started coming out of his mouth, the woman and her family rushed him to a nearby private hospital, from where he was referred to the Central Health Centre (CHC) on Hapur-Garh Road. Rinku died during treatment at the CHC.

Using Rinku’s mobile phone, the woman informed his family about his condition. On receiving the news of his death, family members rushed to the CHC. His mother, in a state of shock, accused the woman of ruining her son’s life by filing a false case and alleged that she had forced him to take poison. In a fit of rage, family members beat the woman with slippers and slapped her inside the hospital परिसर. Police personnel, who reached the spot after being informed, intervened and rescued the woman.

A video of the assault inside the CHC has since gone viral on social media.

The family alleged that the woman had been extorting money from Rinku and threatening him for years. About two years ago, she had filed a r*pe case against him, following which he was arrested. He was later released as the medical report did not confirm the allegation. After the case, Rinku was allegedly evicted from his home by his family.

The woman, however, claimed that when Rinku arrived at her house on Thursday, she was not present and that she did not assault him at the hospital.

Circle Officer Stuti Singh said the body has been taken into custody and sent for postmortem. “No written complaint has been received so far from the family of the deceased. The matter is being investigated from all angles. Further action will be taken based on the postmortem report,” she said.

Police said the incident occurred about 40 km from the district headquarters and that the case will be probed once a formal complaint is lodged.
