Khaki in Shame: Lady Inspector, Constable Caught Taking ₹50,000 Bribe in Dowry Case

Ghaziabad (UP): The Anti-Corruption Team of the Meerut Unit on Saturday caught Muradnagar police station’s Pink Booth in-charge Inspector Priya Singh and Head Constable Shahid red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹50,000. The duo had allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh to dilute sections in a dowry harassment case and drop the names of two accused.

The complaint was filed by Rajneesh Tyagi, a revenue clerk from Kharkhari village in Hapur district, who was named in a dowry case lodged by his wife at Muradnagar police station in October. He alleged that despite being on bail, the officers threatened to jail his family if the bribe was not paid.

Acting on the complaint, the anti-corruption team laid a trap and sent Tyagi with chemical-coated currency. As soon as the money was handed over, the team raided the spot and caught both officials. Their hands tested positive in the chemical test.

A case has been registered against both at Modinagar police station under relevant sections. Further investigation is underway.
