Defeat Turns Violent: Congress Candidate Blocks Road with Thorny Bushes, Stones Pelted at Police in Adilabad

Adilabad: Tension prevailed in Chinna Buggaaram Gram Panchayat of Neradigonda mandal in Adilabad district after a Congress-backed sarpanch candidate allegedly blocked a village road with thorny bushes and her family members attacked police with stones following her defeat in the panchayat elections.

In the elections, BRS candidate Ujwal Jadhav defeated Congress-backed candidate Chandrakala. Alleging foul play and expressing anger over the defeat, Chandrakala’s family members placed thorny bushes on the road in front of their house and declared that no one should pass through that route.

After villagers informed the police, personnel reached the spot and tried to remove the thorny bushes to restore traffic. At this point, Chandrakala’s family members, along with the Congress sarpanch candidate, allegedly attacked the police team by pelting stones.

In the incident, a sub-inspector and a few constables sustained injuries.

Police are investigating the incident and further action is expected.
