Caught in the Dark, Married by Dawn: Panchayat Forces Temple Wedding in Prayagraj


Prayagraj (UP): A young man who had come to meet his girlfriend late at night in Handia Mohalla was caught by the girl’s family, triggering a crowd and heated arguments between both sides. Soon, elders convened a village panchayat and questioned the couple and their families.


After hearing both sides, the panchayat decided to get the couple married immediately. They were taken to a nearby temple, where the wedding was performed as per rituals. Following the ceremony, the bride left with the groom on a bike amid the presence of villagers.


Videos of the incident, showing the temple wedding and quick farewell, have gone viral on social media.

A complaint filed at Raipur’s Khamhardih police station has triggered major unrest within the Chhattisgarh police department. Businessman Deepak Tandon has accused State Police Service officer and Dantewada-posted DSP Kalpana Verma of blackmail, bribery and threats—allegedly carried out through a fabricated love affair.
