Bodh Gaya Wedding Turns Warzone Over Rasgulla Shortage — Baraat Beaten, Chairs Fly, Marriage Cancelled!

A wedding ceremony in Bihar’s Bodh Gaya turned into a chaotic battleground after a dispute erupted between the bride and groom’s families over a shortage of rasgullas. The incident, which took place at a private hotel on 30 November, was captured on CCTV. The footage surfaced four days later and quickly went viral.

According to the video, guests and family members from both sides began arguing during dinner service when someone raised the issue of insufficient sweets. Within minutes, the disagreement escalated into a full-blown clash. People were seen punching, kicking and even fighting with red plastic chairs. Plates, glasses and anything within reach were reportedly used as weapons. Several individuals from both sides were injured.

Following the incident, the bride’s family cancelled the wedding and lodged a complaint at the Bodhgaya police station, alleging that the groom’s side had demanded ₹2 lakh as dowry.

However, the groom’s father, Mahendra Prasad, denied the dowry allegation. He claimed the fight began only due to the shortage of rasgullas. He said that most rituals—including the garland exchange and ceremonies—had been completed, and only the wedding rounds were left. He accused the bride’s family of taking the wedding jewellery and leaving the hotel.

The groom’s mother, Munni Devi, stated that even after the FIR, their family was willing to proceed with the wedding, but the bride’s side refused.

Police have recorded statements from both families. The Bodhgaya police station chief said the investigation is underway to determine whether the fight truly started over sweets or if tensions existed beforehand. The wedding remains cancelled, and both sides are holding firm on their respective claims.
