APSRTC Bus Turns Battlefield: Women Beat Male Passenger Over ‘Reserved’ Seat
A shocking incident aboard an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus has triggered widespread debate after a video of two women physically assaulting a male passenger went viral on social media. The incident occurred on a bus travelling from Tuni to Narasapatnam in Kakinada district, while reports also link the dispute to an RTC bus in Anakapalli district.
According to initial information, the confrontation began when the man occupied a seat that the two women had attempted to reserve by placing a handkerchief on it. What started as a verbal argument quickly escalated into physical violence. The women were seen grabbing the male passenger by his hair and attacking him, as other passengers watched helplessly, unsure of how to intervene.
The episode has reignited discussions on overcrowding in RTC buses, especially after the introduction of free bus travel schemes for women in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Commuters have been complaining about increased disputes among passengers and inadequate seating due to the surge in ridership. Several social media users criticised the violent behaviour, while others pointed out that overcrowding and the lack of enough buses have made travel increasingly chaotic.
The incident continues to draw mixed reactions online, with many urging authorities to add more buses to ease congestion and prevent such altercations.
